Matthias Hartung Joins TARGET as President, Digital Transformation

Leading expert to inspire change in upstream data delivery

MUSCAT, OMAN11, September 2017 – TARGET announces today the appointment of Matthias Hartung as President of Digital Transformation with effect from 11 September. Matthias, who previously worked for Shell as Vice President Technical Data, is a world-leading expert in upstream oil and gas data management. His appointment reflects TARGET’s commitment to addressing the current call for increased capital efficiencies in upstream operations through digital  transformation, and underlines the strategic growth path for the company.

During his time at Shell, Matthias lead efforts to establish working practices to modernize the delivery of technical data to a global team of users, and to improve the quality of data assets in support of business targets such as reductions in non-productive time, process safety and increases in production. He has also worked extensively with industry bodies to agree and develop data exchange standards, and to promote quality in the data management profession.

‘We are enormously proud to have Matthias join our organization,’ said Ali Al Mujaini, TARGET CEO. ‘He brings with him unparalleled experience in his domain, a total commitment to quality and a proven track record in delivering successful results. Inspiring people and organisations to embark on a process of change is a big challenge in our industry right now. They need a trusted advisor to turn to, and I believe that Matthias will serve our customers extremely well in this capacity.’

Matthias is recognised for his passion for bringing technology to business and developing people. ‘Our industry is poised for change. Since the downturn, many companies know they have to transform their operations to realise the benefits that digital technology can deliver, but most are still spectators,’ he said. ‘Once you recognise the impact that digital strategies can have on operating efficiencies and bottom-line results, regardless of your starting point, this process of change can be incredibly rewarding for everyone involved.’

Matthias’ organisation will focus on enabling digital transformation within companies, both by helping them to identify the strategic outcomes they want to achieve through the process, and by defining holistic digital solutions to meet individual customer requirements.

TARGET sponsor the ‘Future Working Zone’ – PETEX 2016

PETEX is the largest subsurface-focused E&P conference and exhibition in the UK, attracting thousands of delegates from across the region and from a range of industry sectors.

This year, TARGET is sponsoring the ‘Future Working Zone’ – a new area dedicated to providing visitors with a range of talks outlining a vision of how people in our industry will interact with data and information in their daily working lives going forward.

At TARGET, we believe that we are on the cusp of a new era – our world is transforming. Low oil prices have forced our industry to reevaluate CAPEX spend on expensive large-scale IT infrastructure, and increasingly companies and organisations are looking to cloud services to deliver technology and data services to their users.

Recently, you may have been hearing more about ‘Digital Transformation’. This describes a business strategy which involves moving information, processes and operations online in order to maximise data capture and analysis opportunities, which in turn can be fed back into decision-making at key stages to optimise business performance.

Our MEERA Platform has been designed specifically to feed users with a steady stream of online data, accessed from multiple libraries, maps, projects, assets and individual contributors to make finding the information you need to make well informed decisions a whole lot easier.

Find us at the Future Working Zone where you can hear what we think about digital transformation from Jamie Cruise, Tom Dombrovsky and Thibault Uzu – every day at 1.30pm.

For more info, go to: www.petex.info or download the show programme.
